Seaside Soul
Club Night Review
Saturday
25th February 2006
Another
packed night at the Seaside Soul club and a great night was had
by those who had made the journey on a cold windy February night
in Morecambe. A big shout must go out to all who came, especially
those from outside the area.
The
club had another free
19 track CD to give away and these were all duly snapped up.
If you didn't get one, you will be able to hear snippets of a few
of the tracks on the website soon
I'm
writing this hung-over (as testament to a good night) listening
to Shaun Robbins on Solar.
I hope you do too. Shaun giving us plenty of shouts for the website
and some wicked modern soul tunes too!!!
As
for the club night the proceedings started with Tony Wilson playing
an excellent choice of 80ss rare grooves some funky choons and an
all round self indulgent hour of soul, served up to the delight
of the early crowd.
Tim
Curry then took the music to the northern masses with some great
oldies and another across the board set.
Once
I understood how a microphone worked, I played some of the tunes
featured on the Solar Show appearances and again playing old and
new soulful material.
You
can read his playlist HERE.
Big tunes on the night were Sonja Greir "Right here right now"
Ben Moore "I got a winner in you" and the original mix
of Vince Montana "That's what love does"
.
Nick Duffs finished off the night in spectacular fashion a packed
dancefloor and every great northern oldie to keep the northern crowd
well catered for and a good old sing along in the process. Wigan
Casino eat your heart out
Well
over 100 people turned up and I'm sure they will be returning when
the Club put on another night on Saturday 25th March 2006 with another
free CD to the first 25 punters through the door and only £2
to get in.
We
hope to feature more excellent soulful sounds from across the soul
spectrum making Seaside Soul one of the best one roomed events in
the North West.
If
you want to see the images of the night you can see them at the
Gallery.
